How ROTA works

For activators
  1. 1Plan your trip. Pick a route, set your radio plan, and choose exactly how much location detail to share.
  2. 2Go live from the road. Start the trip as a passenger or at stops — hunters see your approximate position and frequency.
  3. 3Make contacts. Work hunters as you cross states, counties, and grid squares.
  4. 4Upload your log. Submit ADIF, get a shareable trip page, and earn route and distance awards.
For hunters
  1. 1Watch the live map. See who's on the road, their band, mode, and frequency.
  2. 2Work the mobile station. Catch operators as they cross the states and grids you need.
  3. 3Spot them. Post frequency and signal reports so other hunters can find the trip.
  4. 4Earn hunter awards. Follow favorite operators and chase route, state, and grid awards from home.
