How ROTA works
For activators
- 1Plan your trip. Pick a route, set your radio plan, and choose exactly how much location detail to share.
- 2Go live from the road. Start the trip as a passenger or at stops — hunters see your approximate position and frequency.
- 3Make contacts. Work hunters as you cross states, counties, and grid squares.
- 4Upload your log. Submit ADIF, get a shareable trip page, and earn route and distance awards.
For hunters
- 1Watch the live map. See who's on the road, their band, mode, and frequency.
- 2Work the mobile station. Catch operators as they cross the states and grids you need.
- 3Spot them. Post frequency and signal reports so other hunters can find the trip.
- 4Earn hunter awards. Follow favorite operators and chase route, state, and grid awards from home.
